According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), eight out of 10 fire fatalities occur where Americans feel safest -- in their own homes. That's a pretty sobering statistic and most of those fatalities could have been prevented by installing both smoke alarms and a fire sprinkler system. Using both smoke alarms and a fire sprinkler system reduces the risk of death in a home fire by 82%, relative to having neither.
